Janet Perez Eckles

Janet’s Biography:

As a young girl, Janet packed dreams and expectations when she left Bolivia to come to America. She found not only wonder and beauty in her new life, but also the challenge to overcome trials—physical blindness, marital infidelity, financial devastation, the loss of her son and the acquittal of the man responsible.

But rather than despair, Christ’s love ushered victory for each battle, giving her wisdom to overcome adversity, rekindling her zeal for life and ushering peace for each moment. These victories sparked her mission to inspire and encourage others. As a bilingual, Spanish inspirational speaker, she ignites in her audiences the same passion to triumph, to find purpose in life and achieve professional and personal success.

Janet earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University. After graduation, she met Gene, her husband of thirty-three years. They live in Orlando, FL where they enjoy their sons and granddaughter.

Janet serves as a women’s Sunday school teacher and a ministry leader at South Orlando Baptist Church. She is also a trainer for “The Significant Woman” course, a resource copyrighted by Campus Crusade for Christ.

“My passion is to connect with radio and TV audiences through compelling stories, igniting in them the desire to begin the path to triumph.”---Janet Perez Eckles

Trials of Today, Treasures for Tomorrow by Janet Perez Eckles

Synopsis for "Trials of Today, Treasures for Tomorrow: Overcoming Adversities in Life,” by Janet Perez Eckles:

The Witness
This is the first-person account of a Bolivian immigrant, who entered the U.S. at age 12 with her family in search of opportunities for fulfilling their dreams. Instead, adversity waited. The struggles began with her inability to speak English, and the difficult adjustment to a foreign culture. The years that followed were brightened by her marriage and the birth of three sons. However, obstacles and pain arrived without warning. She lost her sight at the age of 30, the very time when her 2-, 4- and 6-year old sons depended on her most. Her husband’s infidelity darkened her world even more. The desperate search for a cure cruelly lead her to seek out extreme and dangerous options that promised a cure they could not deliver. Sinking into depression, she attended a healing service in a Christian church. Although her hoped-for miracle of restored sight didn’t occur, another miracle did as Christ opened her eyes to see Him. She gave her life to the Lord and He gave back compassion, comfort and peace. His timing was providential, as years later, she faced anguish over the murder of her 19-year old son.

The Devotional
The second phase of the book examines the author’s transition from pain to peace, related in a devotional style. Each encouraging and inspiring episode draws from the author’s personal encounters. Gripping illustrations, sprinkled with humor, invite and comfort the reader while demonstrating God’s active involvement in each situation.

The Study
The final third of the book seeks a deeper understanding of the relevance of God’s Word in times of adversity. It is designed for small group or book club study and discussions. The questions, which draw on the context of the author’s experiences, address hard-hitting issues ranging from fear to forgiveness, and illustrate how the answers are found in Christ.
